Shaping perovskite materials into micro/nanostructures for photonics and optoelectronic applications
Year: 2026
Type: review
Abstract: Metal halide perovskites have emerged as a highly versatile class of materials for optoelectronic and photonic applications, combining exceptional photophysical properties with the ability to accommodate variations in composition, crystal structure, and dimensionality. They can be synthesized under mild solution conditions as either polycrystalline thin films or high-quality single crystals, the latter offering superior structural purity and reduced defect densities that are ideal for advanced device applications. This perovskite structural adaptability, together with compatibility with diverse fabrication strategies, enables the creation of complex micro- and nanoscale architectures with finely tunable optical and electronic properties. This review examines recent advances in growth and morphological control approaches aimed at producing high-quality perovskite structures with tunable geometries. In particular, it highlights how deliberate shaping and structural control of metal halide perovskite materials can unlock new functionalities and device architectures, positioning perovskites as a highly adaptable platform for next-generation optoelectronic and photonic technologies.
