Observational Admissibility, Persistence and Observable Information: A Methodological Framework Applied to Euclid Quick Data Release Q2
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: The Euclid Quick Data Release Q2 provides one of the highest-resolution optical surveys everobtained of the Galactic bulge. Although this release is not intended for cosmological parameterestimation, it offers an ideal environment to investigate the stability of observational informa-tion under extreme stellar crowding. We introduce a methodological framework based on threesequential concepts - observational admissibility, persistence, and observable information -directly operationalizing the CLEO-LOP-COUT chain [2, 3, 4] for real survey data. Insteadof treating source detection as a binary process, the framework evaluates whether an observedsignal remains consistent under repeated observations, changing instrumental configurations, and varying environmental conditions. The framework is applied to the public characteristicsof the Euclid Q2 release [1] and to its published validation metrics, using a preliminary opera-tional index constructed from feld-level astrometric residuals, photometric calibration precision,dither-based persistence, and PSF stability. The results indicate that regions with lower extinc-tion and lower crowding preserve observational information more eficiently, with a combinedpreliminary index of Iobs ≈ 0.79 under conservative assumptions, supporting the usefulnessof the proposed methodology as a pre-DR1 validation framework. No cosmological claims aremade. The proposed framework is intended as a methodological preparation for future Euclidcosmological analyses, and this article is presented as the first in a planned three-part obser-vational series extending the CLEO-LOP-COUT program from Q2 methodology through DR1application and quantitative comparison with ΛCDM.
