XRD and Raman spectroscopy datasets of pristine and isothermally oxidized spark plasma sintered ZrC ultra-high temperature ceramic
Year: 2026
Type: dataset
Abstract: This dataset contains X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy data obtained from pristine and isothermally oxidized spark plasma sintered (SPS) zirconium carbide (ZrC) ultra-high temperature ceramic (UHTC) samples. The data were collected to investigate the phase evolution, oxide formation, and oxidation mechanisms of ZrC during high-temperature isothermal oxidation. XRD measurements were used to identify crystalline phases before and after oxidation, while Raman spectroscopy was employed to characterize oxide phases and carbon formation. The experimental data were generated through laboratory characterization of spark plasma sintered-processed ZrC specimens subjected to controlled isothermal oxidation conditions; detailed experimental procedures are provided in the associated publication. This dataset underlies the results presented in the publication entitled “Oxidation Fronts and Oxide Scale Growth Modeling in Spark Plasma Sintered ZrC Ultra-High Temperature Ceramic.”
