Local Drug Delivery to the Inner Ear
Year: 2026
Type: book-chapter
Abstract: Inner ear drug delivery is a standard element of contemporary otologic practice, particularly with regard to the administration of transtympanic steroids and gentamicin. However, more sophisticated concepts are evolving in this realm, including intracochlear administration of gene therapy to rehabilitate hearing loss. Though multiple challenges still must be overcome before the latter is a widely available option, the outlook is promising.
