No Evidence of Golden Ratio in Babylonian Base-60 Arithmetic — E8 Intelligence Research
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: FINDING: No direct evidence of golden ratio representation in base-60 cuneiform arithmetic; sources are general tutorials, not primary research linking sexagesimal to phi. MATH: - Golden ratio φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.6180339887... - Reciprocal φ⁻¹ = φ−1 ≈ 0.6180339887... - Sexagesimal base 60 uses regular numbers (2^a·3^b·5^c) for finite reciprocals. - φ is irrational, not a regular number in base 60; its sexagesimal expansion is non-terminating. CONNECTION: - No geometric harmony link found between φ and base-60 arithmetic in these sources. - The arXiv paper (1109.3216) explores identities linking φ to number theory functions (Möbius μ, Euler φ, natural log) but does not mention sexagesimal or cuneiform. - No evidence of crystallographic symmetry, root systems, or lattice structures. DEPTH: 1 (The sources are introductory videos and one unrelated number theory paper; no new insight connecting golden ratio to ancient base-60 mathematics is provided.)
