Transseptal access complication: Fractured and trapped wire segment

Abstract: Transseptal access for left-sided procedures is a routine procedure with rare complications. We describe a rare complication of a fractured and entrapped pigtail wire tip in the interatrial septum. We also describe a novel strategy of using an atrial septal closure device to reduce risk of embolization.
