Nexus Of Water Quality Surveillance, Climate Variability and Public Health Risk Assessment for Predicting and Mitigating Cholera Outbreaks in Bauchi Metropolis
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: The intersection of water quality surveillance, climate variability, and public health risk assessment represents a critical do- main in understanding and mitigating cholera outbreaks in urban environments, with Bauchi Metropolis serving as a pivotal case study. This comprehensive review synthesizes existing literature and empirical evidence to critically examine the multi- faceted dynamics of cholera transmission in resource-constrained urban settings. By systematically analyzing current research, methodological approaches, and emerging trends, the paper provides a nuanced exploration of the complex interactions between environmental determinants and cholera epidemiology. The review systematically evaluates recent scholarly contributions addressing water quality indicators, climate-induced environmental changes, and their implications for cholera risk in Bauchi Metropolis. Critical analysis focuses on existing surveillance methodologies, predictive modeling approaches, and public health intervention strategies. Key themes include the impact of climate variability on water contamination, socio- environmental risk factors, and the potential for advanced early warning systems in cholera outbreak prevention. Significant knowledge gaps are identified, highlighting the need for integrated, interdisciplinary approaches to cholera risk assessment. The manuscript contributes a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge, offering insights into the complex relationships between water quality.
