The article describes the author's methodology for studying the value basis of the professional potential of student youth and the results of its empirical testing (survey of university students in 36 regions of Russia, N = 3864, September 2024). It presents a four-category empirical model of the analysis of a social value (the Ideal — the Desired — the Expected — the Real), a five-level interpretive structure of values (core / upper, middle, lower reserve / periphery), and an integral indicator of the formation of terminal and instrumental values constituting the professional potential of students. The translation preserves the structure, tables, formula, footnotes, and reference list of the original publication. The Russian original is the version of record.
