Changes in Mediterranean Diet Adherence and Knowledge in Southeastern US University Students: A Longitudinal Cross-Sectional Study From 2018 to 2024
Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Objectives: The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends consumption of a Mediterranean diet (MD) for overall health and wellbeing. The US News & World Report has ranked the MD as the top diet for the past eight consecutive years, and in a 2024 Harris Poll the MD was the most popular diet. However, it is uncertain if university students in the United States (US) have increased their adoption of the MD over time. The objective was to assess changes in awareness of the MD and MD adherence and perceived barriers over an 8-year period.
