Food Insecurity and Cognitive Domain Trajectories Among Older US Adults: Longitudinal Findings From the Health and Retirement Study
Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Objectives: The number of cases of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias is expected to triple in the United States in the next three decades. Growing evidence supports food insecurity as a potential risk factor for cognitive decline. However, studies exploring the relationship between food insecurity and individual cognitive domains longitudinally within US remain limited. Therefore, we aim to evaluate the associations between household FI and multiple cognitive domain trajectories over time among older adults.
