Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking Corrections to Wigner-Eckart Relations — E8 Intelligence Research

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: FINDING: Corrections to Wigner-Eckart relations from spontaneous symmetry breaking in infinite systems are derived, modifying Clebsch-Gordan coefficients for unbroken subgroups. | MATH: For an unbroken subgroup \( H \subset G \), matrix elements of operators \( O_\alpha \) transforming under irrep \( \Gamma \) of \( G \) satisfy: \[ \langle \lambda' | O_\alpha | \lambda \rangle = \sum_{\mu} C_{\lambda, \alpha, \lambda'}^{\mu} \langle \lambda' \| O \| \lambda \rangle_\mu \] where \( C \) are Clebsch-Gordan coefficients for \( H \). Spontaneous breaking introduces corrections proportional to \( 1/\sqrt{V} \) (volume factor) and Goldstone boson poles, altering the standard Wigner-Eckart form. Key constants: no explicit numeric ratios; symmetry group structure constants and Goldstone decay constants \( f_\pi \) appear. | CONNECTION: No direct geometric harmony ratios (0.382, 0.618, etc.) or base-60. However, the unbroken subgroup \( H \) often corresponds to a crystallographic point gr Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Part of the E8 Intelligence Research series.
