Postnatal Multivitamin Supplementation Increases Breast Milk Docosahexaenoic Acid and Oligosaccharide Concentrations: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Clinical Trial
Abstract: Objectives: Evidence-based guidance on postnatal multivitamin (MVI) use during lactation in food-secure populations remains limited. The present study examined how MVI use during lactation affected docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) concentrations in breast milk. We hypothesized that MVI supplementation could increase breast milk DHA and HMO contents.
