Abstract: FINDING: Chaitin's Omega (Ω) is a real number encoding the halting probability of a universal Turing machine, proving algorithmic randomness and incompleteness beyond Gödel/Turing. MATH: - Ω = Σ_{p halts} 2^{-|p|}, where |p| is length of program p in bits. - Ω is algorithmically random (normal, incompressible): its binary expansion passes all effective statistical tests. - Ω is uncomputable: no finite program can output its digits; knowing Ω would solve the halting problem. - Ω is transcendental and depends on the chosen universal Turing machine (UTM) encoding. - Key constants: Ω ∈ (0,1), typically ~0.5 for prefix-free encodings. No closed-form rational or algebraic expression exists. CONNECTION: - No direct geometric ratio (0.382, 0.618, 1.618, etc.) emerges from Ω's definition or known properties. - However, Ω's construction uses prefix-free codes, which relate to Kraft's inequality and the geometry of binary trees (Cantor space). - The halting probability can be in Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
