Abstract: This essay develops a metaphysical account of wisdom as a disposition rather than an event. Against the assumption that wisdom is accumulated through experience or produced by disciplined inquiry, it argues that wisdom cannot be acquired because acquisition presupposes temporal arrival, whereas wisdom disposes the will without itself entering consciousness as an event. Drawing on the sapiential literature, Thomistic philosophy, and a topological model of the present, the essay distinguishes reception from acquisition and proposes that the will is shaped by dispositions that cannot themselves be generated by the causal chain producing thought. The resulting account unites philosophical anthropology with Christian theology by interpreting wisdom as a gift that prepares moral judgment without replacing human freedom.
