CareBridge Health: Health data versus clinical flow
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: CareBridge Health (pseudonym) is a fast-growing Nigerian healthcare platform operating across 28 partner hospitals in six states. Following a Series B funding round in late 2024, the company implemented a structured digital claims and patient-records system across its hospital network to support insurer validation, reduce fraud, and meet investor expectations. Clinicians report, however, that the new system disrupts consultations, diminishes patient care, and erodes professional judgement. Dr Amina Okafor, CareBridge’s Medical Director, must navigate a mounting conflict between clinical autonomy and the organisation’s data demands. As resistance deepens and trust deteriorates, she faces a high-stakes decision: enforce compliance, redesign for clinical flow, or accept fragmented adoption across hospital sites. The case invites students to analyse the limits of scale in data-driven healthcare, the ethics of performance metrics, and the leadership challenge of aligning digital transformation with frontline realities.
