Type: article
Abstract: Playing is a fundamental right for all children, including those with disabilities. SDGS Indicator 11.7 firmly states that it is necessary to provide universal access to safe, inclusive, and accessible green and public spaces, particularly for women and children, older persons, and persons with disabilities. BLV-disabled children do have many accessibility limitations. The idea of the inclusive playground concept aims to create a play environment where all users, including children with disabilities, can enjoy themselves without discrimination or barriers, but several studies have shown that the lack of participatory design is the cause of unrealized potential of inclusive playgrounds. This research was conducted with a participatory method approach, a case study discussing justice in playground design focusing on assistive devices for BLV-disabled children who use the Child-Friendly Playground in Alun Alun Kota Depok, Indonesia. Focus on participatory design to find solutions to practical problems by identifying challenges and opportunities through interviews and experimentation with users, and accessibility limitations in BLV-disabled children are resolved with auditory sensory. This makes assistive devices for them with inclusivity, accuracy, and flexibility very useful for accessibility in playgrounds, and the idea of an inclusive playground can be realized.
