BIM Coordination in Architectural Practice
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This research-based working paper examines how Building Information Modeling (BIM) improves interdisciplinary coordination, information management, and construction documentation in architectural practice. Based on ISO 19650-1, peer-reviewed literature, and industry evidence, it proposes an eight-stage BIM coordination framework emphasizing information requirements, common data environments, quality control, and traceable decision-making. The paper concludes that BIM delivers the greatest value when implemented as an information management process rather than solely as a 3D modeling technology.
