Multi-Platform Time Synchronization Error Compensation and Coherent Cumulative Direct Positioning Determination

Abstract: In a multi-platform passive positioning system, the time synchronization error among different platforms leads to inconsistent phase information of the received signals from each platform.Traditional multi-platform direct position determination (DPD) ignores the influence of inconsistent phase information of the received signals from each platform and adopt incoherent cumulative methods to process the received signals, resulting in a decrease in the positioning accuracy of the system, especially in a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) environment. To address this issue, this paper proposes a multi-platform time synchronization error compensation and coherent cumulative DPD method. This method minimizes the information entropy of the coherent accumulation of received signals from each platform, estimates the phase difference between platforms, and establishes a cost function for the coherent accumulation positioning of data from multiple receiving platforms. The simulation results show that the range of phase errors estimated based on the minimum entropy principle is relatively small, reaching 0.01 to 0.1 rad.Compared with the traditional DPD, the positioning accuracy of the proposed DPD has been improved by approximately 5 dB, and the positioning performance has been significantly enhanced.
