oral-gut-brain-faers: analysis and figure code for the oral-gut-brain symptom axis at population scale in 20.2 million FAERS reports
Year: 2026
Type: software
Abstract: Rust archive scanners and Python figure builders that reproduce every figure and statistic in the manuscript The oral-gut-brain symptom axis at population scale in 20.2 million FAERS reports. The study maps how oral, gastrointestinal, and neuropsychiatric symptoms are reported together within the same adverse event report, across the complete openFDA FAERS drug-event archive (2004 to the first quarter of 2026), with independent replication in Canada Vigilance and EudraVigilance. This deposit holds the code, the frozen term-to-node classification that defines the 30-node panel, and documentation of where each public archive was downloaded from and the directory layout the code expects. It does not redistribute the archives themselves, which are large and publicly available from the sources listed in docs/DATA_SOURCES.md. A large language model (Claude, Anthropic) was used to refine and document this code, as disclosed in the manuscript Methods. Every analysis choice, parameter, threshold and result was specified and checked by the authors.
