Rimodellamento Epigenetico Sesso-Dipendente in Risposta all’Esercizio Fisico: Ruolo degli Interventi Nutrizionali nell’Adattamento del Muscolo Scheletrico
Year: 2026
Type: dissertation
Abstract: This thesis examines the role of sex-dependent epigenetic remodeling in skeletal muscle adaptation to physical exercise, with particular attention to the influence of nutritional interventions. After describing the main epigenetic mechanisms, such as DNA methylation, histone modifications, and microRNAs, biological differences between men and women in the molecular response to exercise are analyzed. The work highlights how biological sex, through genetic and hormonal factors, influences the muscle epigenome, leading to distinct adaptations in terms of energy metabolism, mitochondrial biogenesis, and protein synthesis. Furthermore, the effects of specific nutrients and bioactive compounds on epigenetic modulation are discussed, emphasizing the potential of precision sports nutrition in the development of personalized strategies aimed at optimizing performance and metabolic health.
