End points for clinical allograft trials; GRFS should not be abandoned
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Kelkar et al 1 questioned whether "Is it time to move beyond graft-versus-host disease-free, relapsefree survival as a primary end point in clinical trials for hematopoietic cell transplantation?"The answer is not simple and deserves reflection.End points for clinical trials of allogeneic transplantation can vary.Survival, disease-free survival, relapse (for malignancies), and nonrelapse mortality have all been used to capture the complexities of allografting. The preferred end point might best reflect a meaningful clinical milestone for the patients involved and capture the most important elements of transplantation success.
