Abstract: Research on film archives is undergoing a theoretical shift from a focus on the “object” to the “field”. Traditional paradigms treat the archive as an object, emphasizing the integrity and authenticity of its physical artifacts, while neglecting the fluidity and multiplicity of meanings produced through historical becoming. By redefining it as an open field for meaning production, poetic strategies such as disruption and reconstruction can be seen as vital artistic practices that activate the archive’s potential and release multiple temporalities. Thus, the film archive becomes a crucial site of memory resistance. Through the material specificity of the medium and ritualistic experience, it counters the homogenization of memory, ultimately transforming into a dynamic cultural space capable of fostering critical dialogue and future imagination.
