High quantum efficiency Ca2-xEuxAlTaO6 double perovskite phosphors: Applications in WLED and temperature sensing fields
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: In this work, a series of novel double perovskite phosphors, Ca2-xEuxAlTaO6, were successfully synthesized via the high-temperature solid-state reaction method. The material exhibits a relatively high internal quantum efficiency and excellent optical thermometric properties. Key properties of the samples were systematically investigated, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), crystal structure, luminescence spectra, elemental composition, thermal stability, quantum efficiency, and fluorescence decay lifetime. The quantum efficiency of the sample reaches as high as 73.96%, and the maximum relative sensitivity (Sr) is up to 10.26 %·K−1, indicating promising application potential in temperature sensing.Based on the optimally doped Ca2AlTaO6:18% Eu3+ red phosphor, a WLED device was fabricated by combining it with a commercial 395 nm LED chip. The device achieves a color rendering index (Ra) of 95.9, demonstrating excellent color rendering performance. In summary, Ca2-xEuxAlTaO6 phosphors possess high quantum efficiency and elevated relative sensitivity (Sr), exhibiting excellent luminescent properties and optical thermometric performance, as well as good compatibility with LED devices. Consequently, they show significant multifunctional application potential in fields such as light-emitting diodes and optical temperature sensors.
