Anatomy-Matched Healthy and Lesion-Inserted Stochastic Optoacoustic Numerical Breast Phantoms and Simulated OAT Measurement Data
Year: 2026
Type: dataset
Abstract: This dataset is a subset of the companion dataset associated with the manuscript: Seonyeong Park, Gangwon Jeong, Umberto Villa, Mark A. Anastasio, "A Virtual Imaging Framework for Three-Dimensional Quantitative Optoacoustic Tomography Using Stochastic Numerical Breast Phantoms," Photoacoustics 100850 (2026) https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pacs.2026.100850 The complete dataset contains 576 sets of three-dimensional (3D) numerical breast phantoms (NBPs) for use in virtual imaging studies of optoacoustic tomography (OAT), along with the corresponding simulated multiwavelength optical fluence distributions, induced initial pressure distributions, and OAT measurement data. Each set corresponds to a distinct breast anatomy and includes two anatomy-matched variants: (i) a healthy breast and (ii) a breast containing malignant lesions modeled with viable tumor cells, a necrotic core, and peripheral angiogenesis. Both variants have Fitzpatrick skin tone 1. More detailed information is provided in the accompanying README.txt file. **Important: This record contains only a subset of the complete dataset. Please read the information below before downloading files. This Illinois Data Bank record provides a representative subset consisting of 192 sets. The complete dataset consists of 576 sets and is approximately 5.3 TB in size, exceeding the storage capacity of the Illinois Data Bank. Therefore, the complete dataset is hosted on the Granite tape storage system at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The complete dataset hosted on Granite includes all files available in this record. Before downloading additional files from the complete dataset, please check which files you have already downloaded from this record to avoid duplication. Information on how to access the complete dataset can be found in Files - All section.
