Data from: Enabling group fission through proactive enclosure design and reactive social management
Year: 2026
Type: dataset
Abstract: These data are from a study on a naturalistic group fission paradigm, using a unique enclosure design to enable self-selection. This work was conducted with an outdoor-housed, mixed-sex group (N=184) of rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) at the California National Primate Research Center from September, 2024 to June, 2025. Social state behaviors were collected using scan sampling, while agonistic behaviors were collected using event sampling.
