A Strategic Policy Framework To Tackle the Lead Pollution Crisis by 2030
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: Lead (Pb) pollution is a serious public-health and environmental challenge in Bangladesh, particularly affecting children and communities exposed to informal lead-acid battery recycling. Bangladesh has reported high levels of lead exposure, while inadequate regulation, monitoring, and enforcement continue to increase the risk. This paper proposes a strategic policy framework to tackle lead pollution by 2030 through stronger regulation, environmentally sound management of used lead-acid batteries, improved health and environmental monitoring, safer battery technologies, and greater public awareness.
