The General Mathematical Foundations of Semiotics: Heyting Topologies, Categorical Topoi, and Relativistic Sign Fields

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: This paper lays out the mathematical logic of communication between nonfungible entities, whether human, AI, or documentary as taking place not between a dictionary communicating with a dictionary in a planar field in boolean logic, but rather as communications involving topological field warping involving intuitionist logic and utilizing Heyting algebra. Semiotics is an interaction of nonequivalent beings who communicate or not through a system of signs within comparatively shared fields which interact under mappable systems reducible to logical equations which are generalizable. Statements change the weightings within the field and influence the response potentials analogous to gravity under general relativity. Rather than being planar, these interactions are multidimensional. This paper is only a preliminary statement. Classical structural semiotics has historically relied on qualitative, discrete, or flat Boolean descriptions of signs, signifiers, and signification networks. This paper develops a unified mathematical foundation of semiotics grounded in category theory, sheaf theory over topological spaces, intuitionistic Heyting algebras, and pseudo-Riemannian differential geometry. We prove that the semantic space generated by sign-action (semiosis) naturally forms a Heyting lattice of open sets O(M) wherein the Law of the Excluded Middle is systematically invalidated across non-empty semiotic boundaries (∂U ≠ ∅). Furthermore, we model contextual interpretation and dynamic semiosis as stress-energy field distributions that perturb metric tensors on latent cognitive manifolds, yielding an invariant geometric field equation (R_μν - 1/2 R g_μν = κ T_μν) governing sign interpretation across silicon architectures, biological nervous systems, and hermeneutic texts.
