Abstract: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare, progressive, and life-threatening autoimmune disease. The hallmark of SSc is fibrosis of skin and internal organs (Denton and Khanna, 2017). The prevalence of SSc is ranging from 50 to 300 per million globally. The United States has one of the highest prevalence rates at 240 per million (Chifflot et al., 2008). It is a very challenging disease to manage, resulting in the highest mortality among major rheumatologic diseases (Denton and Khanna, 2017).
