A Discipline-Imposing Synthesis: Constraint Mapping, Capability Decomposition, and Explanatory Displacement for Disputed Cognitive Constructs
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Description (paste): Working paper of the Recoherence Systems (RS) programme (historically GTRS — see the enclosed Programme Naming & Positioning Note). Presents a discipline-imposing synthesis for consciousness-adjacent research: a factor-admissibility gate, a six-coordinate individuation schema scoring candidate carvings (with the claim that Markov blankets, where they exist, are consequences of prior individuation rather than its criterion), a capability decomposition over a formally checkable partial order, a symmetric explanatory-displacement discipline the framework applies to its own constructs (two executed self-demotions enclosed), disciplined ablation-design requirements for artificial systems, and a pre-registered titrated-delay self-recognition battery offered as a forward commitment with pre-committed falsifiers. No empirical result and no solution to the Hard Problem is claimed; four open commitments (OC-1–OC-4) are registered in the enclosed companion record, which travels inseparably with this deposit per its evaluation-gate conditions. Every numbered claim carries a verified non-producer clearance under the programme's no-self-grading panel architecture; the enclosed HATI² Gate Record publishes all three evaluation verdicts (81.5 provisional / 85 human / 87 external — consensus band: Substantial work) with divergences, and the enclosed Glassbox report documents the full trail, including two voided evaluation passes caught by mechanical verification and the transmission-integrity protocol they forced — reported as methodological findings for human–AI collaborative research. All citations independently verified against a live scholarly index; AI systems served as method (drafting, adversarial grading, re-derivation, verification) and no AI output is cited as evidence. Keywords: individuation; Markov blankets; explanatory displacement; mirror self-recognition; ablation; pre-registration; consciousness; recoherence systems; research methodology; human-AI collaboration
