Beyond the Algorithm: Designing Human-AI Partnerships in Healthcare
Year: 2026
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) transforms the way we live, work, and interact with technology. From chatbots that answer routine questions to algorithms that assist in diagnosis and recommend treatments, AI is becoming deeply embedded in healthcare delivery. Despite its promise to solve complex problems, one of the most critical aspects of AI lies not in the technology itself, but in how humans interact and collaborate with it (Mazur et al., 2019). Nowhere is this more important than in healthcare, where patient safety, provider trust, and clinical efficiency are directly impacted (Bates et al., 2021; Fuller¹ et al., 2025).
