Abstract: Preeclampsia is a multifactorial disease that is a leading cause of maternal death in Mexico. Epidemiological studies have shown that iodine deficiency is a risk factor for this disorder. The per iodine antioxidant effects exerted extra thyroid tissues, however, the date is unknown whether iodine also alters the redox state in placental trophoblast affecting the processes of proliferation, differentiation and migration. In the present study the in vitro effect of iodine deficiency and exposure in the redox state and its effects on the regulation of transcription factors HIF and Snail involved in processes of proliferation, differentiation and migration trophoblastic analyzed. The objective of this thesis is to analyze the association of iodine deficiency and exposure with the REDOX status and its effects on the expression of transcription factors involved in cellular processes in an in vitro culture of human trophoblasts.
