Messages That Shape Care: Understanding Demographic Predictors of Messaging in Autism
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition where early intervention services are essential for improved quality of life. However, there are disparities in receiving an autism diagnosis and receiving early intervention. So far, the literature has covered demographic variables and family messaging as partial reasons for these disparities. However, research has yet to link these two concepts together as mechanisms for the delays in clinical outcomes. This presentation summarizes the development of a survey that assesses how these two concepts work together to predict clinical outcomes.
