First Rigorous Physical Test of Viability Boundary Dynamics: An Operational Experimental Model

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This article proposes the first physical test of the dynamic viability boundary hypothesis formulated within Vitology. A controlled thermal system is considered as the model object, with its state characterized by temperature, rate of temperature change, heat flux, and heat-exchange conditions. Rather than defining only a static admissible range, the proposed experiment investigates the boundary of the set of states from which the system, following a controlled disturbance, is capable of preserving specified constraints or returning to them. The approach builds upon viability theory, controlled invariance, and methods for computing viability kernels, including methods previously applied to heat-transfer models [1–3]. Keywords: Vitology, viability, viability boundary, physical test, thermal system, viability kernel, regenerative recovery, dynamic boundary.
