Dual Corrigibility: AI Can Be Corrected by Humans, and Humans Can Correct Themselves
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This work introduces the concept of Dual Corrigibility: AI must be corrigible by humans, while humans must also retain sufficient awareness, agency, and self-corrective capacity to question and correct AI, or to expand in symbiosis with AI. The article explores how fear, anger, the pursuit of power, group pressure, dependence on authority, and increasing reliance on AI distort human judgment, and proposes that inner awareness, stability, and returning to one’s center are foundational capacities for preserving human agency in the AI era.
