Abstract: Assessment of the Impact of Carbohydrate-Rich Junk Food Consumption on Nutritional Status, Metabolic Health, and Liver Function Danish Iqbal Prof (Dr) Farida Bano The increasing consumption of carbohydrate-rich junk foods has emerged as a major public health concern due to its association with obesity, metabolic disorders, and liver dysfunction. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the impact of carbohydrate-rich junk food consumption on anthropometric characteristics, metabolic health, liver function, and overall health status among the population of Patna, Bihar. A cross-sectional observational study involving 300 participants from five geographical zones of Patna was conducted using dietary surveys, anthropometric measurements, haematological and biochemical investigations, liver function tests, and ultrasonographic examination. The findings demonstrated a significant association between frequent junk food consumption and adverse alterations in anthropometric indices, liver function parameters, metabolic profile, and hepatic morphology. The study highlights the need for early nutritional interventions, public health awareness, and lifestyle modifications to reduce the burden of diet-related metabolic and liver disorders.
