Mark, Coupling, and Reification in Quantum Reality

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: The debate began with the essay’s thesis that many quantum paradoxes are produced by an illegitimate passage between levels. Formalism organises predictions; experiment produces localised, recoverable differences; the real does not depend on its description. The discussion focused on the point of articulation: under what conditions can a physical correlation constitute a record, how should irreversibility be understood, and what discipline prevents mathematical properties from being transferred directly into ontology? Comparison with the reference essay also revealed a need to distinguish concepts that it sometimes places too close together. The concrete designates the portion of the real captured under a regime of observation. Under the current OCE canon, the mark is the passive material organisation stabilised by a singular inscription and co-constituted with a first symbol. An experimental concretion may involve marks. The two terms are not equivalent.
