External Transferability of Viability Metrology: Testing the Standardized Architecture Across New Systems and Conditions

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This article advances the metrological research program of Vitology by examining the external transferability of a standardized viability-measurement architecture across systems and conditions not included in the preceding pilot studies. Building on the initial interdisciplinary test in G34, the standardization framework developed in G35, and the repeated standardized testing conducted in G36, the study shifts the focus from reproducibility within the original domains to out-of-sample interdisciplinary transferability. A distinction is introduced between structural, operational, and comparative transferability (T1–T3). The article proposes External Viability-Metrology Transferability (EVMT), Transfer Uncertainty (TU), and the Viability Metrology Transferability Index (VMTI) as methodological constructs for evaluating the quality and limitations of cross-domain transfer. A predefined Transfer Protocol is introduced to reduce post hoc adaptation of indicators and to preserve transparency in operationalization, normalization, uncertainty assessment, and interpretation. The article further formulates the Doctrine of Metrological Transferability in Vitology and the Theory of Constrained Metrological Universality (TCMU). The central proposition is that interdisciplinary universality may be empirically investigated at the level of measurement architecture without assuming identical variables, causal mechanisms, or physical units across systems of different nature. The framework explicitly includes falsification criteria and treats failure of transferability as an informative result defining the empirical boundaries of viability metrology.
