An actionable field practice integrated with real-time quantitative vector surveillance for precision intervention during the 2025 Chikungunya outbreak in Foshan

Abstract: Following the activation of Level III emergency response, China's grassroots public health systems, exemplified by initiatives like the Patriotic Health Campaign and community-based prevention networks, can be rapidly mobilized. To enhance precision in controlling China’s first large-scale chikungunya fever outbreak in Shunde, Foshan, Guangdong Province, real-time quantitative surveillance was implemented. Real-time quantitative surveillance was conducted using MS400 traps and Intelligent Mosquito Ovitraps (IMTs) to monitor Aedes mosquito populations. These tools established a rapid monitoring network in Foshan, enabling daily data reporting with high spatiotemporal resolution. During comprehensive and targeted vector control phases, real-time data from MS-400 and IMT informed adaptive adjustments in local control strategies, optimizing resource allocation and intervention timing. This integrated field practice combining advanced surveillance technologies with community mobilization validates a scalable framework for precision Aedes -borne disease control, yielding actionable insights into mitigating emerging arboviral threats in resource-limited settings.
