Direct Measurement of Protein Corona Thickness on Nanomaterials Using Dual‐Color Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM) (Small Methods 16/2026)

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Inside Front Cover By labeling the surfaces of nanoparticles and the outer edge of adsorbed protein coronas with spectrally distinct fluorophores, dual-color STORM was used to measure protein corona thicknesses. These detailed measurements revealed a remarkably consistent thickness of ∼50 nm across different types of particles. Accurate measurement of how the protein corona thickness changes in different environments is crucial to understanding how nanoparticles act in biological media.
