Geometric Langlands Correspondence Proven: Categorical Equivalence Established — E8 Intelligence Research
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: FINDING: Recent proof of a central component of the geometric Langlands correspondence (Gaitsgory et al.) establishes a categorical equivalence between D-modules on the moduli stack of G-bundles and ind-coherent sheaves on the Langlands dual stack. | MATH: The core is a categorical equivalence: \( \mathrm{D-mod}(\mathrm{Bun}_G) \simeq \mathrm{IndCoh}(\mathrm{LocSys}_{{}^L G}) \), where \( {}^L G \) is the Langlands dual group. This generalizes the classical Langlands duality \( G \leftrightarrow {}^L G \), with root system inversion: if \( G \) has root system \( \Phi \), then \( {}^L G \) has coroot system \( \Phi^\vee \). Key constants: the dual Coxeter number \( h^\vee \) appears in the critical level \( \kappa = -h^\vee \), and the quantum group parameter \( q = e^{i\pi/h^\vee} \) emerges in the categorical setting. | CONNECTION: The Langlands dual group is defined via root systems — the very same root systems (A_n, B_n, C_n, D_n, E_6, E_7, E_8, F_4, G_2) that classify crystallogra Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
