Wigner Reconstruction of Quantum States from a Narrow-Linewidth Semiconductor Laser
Year: 2026
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: We reconstruct the Wigner function of quantum states of light produced by an ultralow-linewidth semiconductor laser using experimentally acquired data from a Balanced Homodyne Detector (BHD). To this end, we implement a tomographic reconstruction technique based on Maximum Likelihood Estimation. For our specific implementation, we show that MLE provides robustness against statistical noise and enables the reconstruction of vacuum and coherent states. With these results, we want to investigate whether quiet-pump semiconductor lasers produce measurable squeezing [1].
