Abstract: This article studied the effect of mulberry leaves grown under the arid and sharply continental climatic conditions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan on the viability of the silkworm and on cocoon productivity. In the course of the study, the local breeds "Ipakchi-1" and "Ipakchi-2" and the imported "Shan-Tung" breed were compared in terms of biological and economic indicators. The influence of temperature, air humidity, feeding quality and the microclimate of the rearing house on the development of the silkworm was also assessed. According to the results of the study, the breeds adapted to the local climate displayed high viability and cocoon yield.
