Abstract: This article provides an in-depth, scientifically grounded analysis of the theoretical and practical aspects of creating a still life in the watercolour technique. The physical and chemical properties of watercolour paints, their colour-producing capabilities, and their interaction with water, together with the artistic solutions these afford in depicting a still life, are examined at length. The article also explains the role of such important factors as composition, light and shadow, colour harmony, texture, and transparency in creating a still life. Furthermore, it reveals on a scientific basis the features that distinguish the watercolour technique from other painting techniques, as well as its subtlety and complexity.
