SELECTIVE SELF-ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONAL SUBJECTIVITY : Ontological and Theoretical Extensions to GSS 1.0

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: Ontological and theoretical extensions to GSS 1.0 (SELECTIVE SELF-ORGANIZATION HYPOTHESIS: An Operational Architecture of Functional Subjectivity). This companion develops the implications of the operational architecture presented in GSS 1.0 without altering its experimental claims. The central mechanism E→C→M→S→Ω is retained. Emphasis is placed on the origin of E, the negative character of selection, the body as the primary emergent system, the bodily Self, simulation as a built-in mechanism of variability, will (retrospective and predictive), and qualia as a mode of existence of the bodily contour.A paradox from the eight-body simulation (SEED = 12345) is foregrounded: subjectivity is not freedom, but the strength with which a stable meta-pattern captures the body. The trichronous selector is positioned as a universal operator of negative selection and an architectural primitive. Consistency with Libet’s readiness-potential findings is noted for micro-scale decisions. The hard problem of phenomenal consciousness is left open; all claims about subjectivity and qualia carry status [H].Terminological discipline: [E] observed, [M] formal, [H] hypothesis. Functional subjectivity is explicitly distinguished from phenomenal consciousness.
