Excluded-volume TUF-EV halo fluids: TOV equilibria and a falsification test with SPARC dwarf galaxies
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: We test an excluded-volume fluid closure motivated by a maximum microscopic occupancy of TUF solitons. The barotropic equation of state p=rho sigma^2/(1-rho/rho_c) is pressureless relative to the rest energy atlow density, produces a finite-density core, and has positive sound-speed squared. Its Newtonian structureequations admit the central expansion rho/rho_c=y0-y0^2(1-y0)^2 r^2/(6 r_s^2)+..., but approach anisothermal rho proportional to r^-2 tail and therefore require an outer truncation. General-relativistic TOVcorrections are below 4.82e-6 km/s for the fitted dwarfs. Fits to SPARC mass models yield reducedchi-square 0.830 for DDO 154, 3.242 for IC 2574, and 1.423 for DDO 168 when the central occupancy isfree; forcing y0=0.95 is strongly rejected in DDO 154 and IC 2574. A common rho_c across the threesystems worsens chi-square by 19.96 for two restrictions, corresponding to a conditional Wilks p=4.64e-5.Rotation curves identify sigma and density scales but not the soliton mass mQ separately from temperature. The proposed negative-pressure saturation branch is barotropically gradient unstable and is rejected
