Abstract: This article analyzes, from a scientific and pedagogical standpoint, the place and significance of geometric shapes in fine art lessons. Geometric shapes are presented as a principal didactic means of developing students' spatial imagination, constructive thinking, powers of observation, and creative approach. The article also demonstrates the opportunities they afford for mastering the laws of perspective, correctly determining proportions, and forming the skill of conveying volume. The connection of geometric shapes with interdisciplinary integration, in particular with mathematics, is likewise substantiated. As a result, the methodological and practical significance of geometric shapes in fine art education is revealed.
