Abstract This study, entitled The Marginalized in the Poetry of Adnan Mardam (1914–1988): An Analytical and Artistic Study, delves into the depths of Adnan Mardam's poetic experience, taking the image of the marginalized individual as a lyrical lens through which the poet's vision of human existence and the fabric of society comes into focus. It seeks to trace the underlying patterns of marginalization embedded within his poetry, to unravel the artistic techniques upon which his poetic vision is constructed, and to uncover the profound human meanings that lie beneath its surface—meanings burdened by the weight of reality yet yearning for redemption. To this end, the study examines a range of ordinary social figures whom the poet drew from the narratives of everyday life: the licorice vendor, the roasted-corn seller, the woodcutter, the porter, and the newspaper vendor. In Mardam's poetic vision, these individuals are not merely fleeting figures on the margins of society; rather, they become enduring poetic symbols that embody the hardships of the oppressed and give voice to the silent anguish of humanity. The research further investigates the artistic devices through which the poet constructs the image of the marginalized, focusing particularly on vivid poetic imagery, innovative simile, evocative metaphor, personification that animates the inanimate, suggestive diction, and dramatic movement that transforms stillness into silent narratives. Together, these artistic devices give tangible form to the hardships endured by the marginalized while simultaneously revealing the quiet nobility of their patience, the dignity of their spirit, and the heroism of their daily struggle against an unyielding society. The study concludes that Adnan Mardam transcends a purely realistic portrayal of marginalized groups, transforming them into vibrant poetic beings who elevate the deprived and forgotten to positions of honor within the world of poetry. It also demonstrates that the poet's deeply rooted humanistic vision extends beyond sympathy for the working classes, illuminating their hidden agency, celebrating their resilience, and affirming their remarkable capacity to withstand the hardships of life while sustaining hope.
