Abstract: A correct understanding of the meaning of a word, particularly Qur'anic vocabulary, requires consulting various exegetical interpretations in order to arrive at its most precise meaning. This necessity arises from the comprehensive semantic nature of Qur'anic expressions. The present study investigates the semantic variation and connotative meanings of vibrational (onomatopoeic/expressive) lexical items as rendered in Mehdi Elahi Ghomshei's Persian translation of the meanings of the Holy Qur'an. For this purpose, twelve lexical items occurring in the Qur'an were selected for analysis. Seven of these appear in verbal forms, while the remaining five occur as nouns or adjectives.
