[SUPERSEDED] Solenoid-Free Startup and Non-Inductive Ramp-Up of a Compact Spherical-Tokamak Breeder
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: This record has been superseded. The current, updated version is From Breakdown to Flat-Top: Solenoid-Free Startup and Disruption-Free Ramp Access for a Negative-Triangularity Spherical-Tokamak Breeder (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.22645760). Please read and cite the current version. This page stays online so existing citations keep resolving. Solenoid-free startup and non-inductive ramp-up of the compact spherical-tokamak breeder, which has no room for a central solenoid. The current is initiated by outboard induction, electron-cyclotron heating, and a helicity or beam seed, then handed off to the non-inductive and bootstrap currents that hold the flat-top. The ramp auxiliary power and profile-control hand-off are flagged as carried risks. Shorter synthesis paper.
