Research project plan for wasteland succession in residential areas to be developed

Abstract: Some students in the team have passed the Huaxia West Road viaduct (Sanlin section of Pudong New District, Shanghai, see Figure 1) several times over the years. They saw that there was a large area that had been moved but undeveloped on the south side of the viaduct, and found that vegetation had grown (see Figures 2 and 3). After the demolition of the area, there are a large number of bricks and concrete fragments piled up on the ground. How did the plants grow in such an early lack of fertile soil? Which plants are dominant? How about diversity? After growing plants, what animals live here? How rich are the microorganisms in the soil? Can plants that can grow on the ground dominated by bricks and concrete be used to transform the surface of Mars when human beings develop Mars in the future? ... There has always been an impulse to find out in my heart. It happened that the teacher informed me that there was an academic exhibition activity about "AI + Life Science", so I summoned students with common research interests to form a team in the biology competition class to participate. Whether I won the prize or not is secondary, and it is exciting to be able to answer the above questions.
